5 tricks to have a safer trip

Whether you go to a remote country or one that is very close, when you go on vacation there are some cares that you should take into account if you want to make a safe trip without headaches. Based on my experience I can tell you that there are things that I like to do and take into account besides organizing the backpack or seeing that I have the reservation of the accommodation made. I recognize that in some cases it may seem a bit exaggerated, but these are steps I always take to get on a plane in a quiet way and ensure that I will not find surprises somewhat unpleasant. Before embarking on your trip, let me give you these 5 tips to have a more pleasant holiday.

Take out travel insurance Yes, I know it seems obvious, but hiring travel insurance is sometimes our last options, because the destination is quiet and "nothing will happen." A few years ago when we went to Argentina we had a medical problem and we ended up in the hospital. Without any international insurance or of any other type, we went “publicly” and they treated us wonderfully, but the 10 hours of waiting and walks between hospitals is not taken away by anyone. So we have learned the lesson and we no longer leave without hiring one.

Keep a digital copy of your passport A few months ago I realized that what was so obvious to me, other travelers were not doing. Many years ago I took pictures of my passport and my ID and I keep them in the cloud in a safe place. On top of that I share it with people of my strictest confidence in case something happens to me they would have an easy way to access my documentation. This is not an official or legal endorsement, but imagine that your passport is lost, you could go with the photograph to your consulate and have great details about who you are.

Don't carry all the money on top Usually when I travel I do it with little cash ... well, when I travel and when I don't do it too. As far as possible I avoid it and if I have to have a lot of money with me I share it, a little with me and another in some secret place of my accommodation. Of course, never leave it in a dirty sock because it is the first place where a thief would look in your room.

Get vaccinated If you need vaccines, do not overlook them even if they are not mandatory. For example, some time ago we told you what were the vaccines needed to go to India and even if some of them you do not have to put yes or yes it is better to do so that you do not get any disease. Find out which are the recommended ones for the country you visit and do it with the necessary time.

Know the area before traveling Every time we travel we try to make a combination that allows us to make a cheap trip but without resigning comfort or safety. That's why sometimes we prefer to pay a little more for an accommodation but that is in a quiet location. I recommend that you do the same but also that you look at the area more broadly before traveling. For example, on our last trip to Israel we stayed away from the conflict zone because we did not find someone to advise us to get there. Read a lot, get informed and make the decision with confidence before planning your trip. Although the advice could be extended much more, I have preferred to focus on the 5 that are most common for me. If you have other recommendations, leave them in the comments because I am convinced that I can help other travelers like you or me.
